is mr. dupe a copy or a counterfeit?

neither. mr. dupe is the trade name under which we publish — every fragrance we sell is our own composition, inspired by a recognised original, never sold under the original house's name or trademark. we honour the references in plain sight on every product page so you always know what we're comparing to.

how close are the dupes to the originals?

close enough that the people we tested them on couldn't tell the dry-down apart, blind, on skin. opening notes can land a touch different (every perfume's top notes are the most volatile and the most expensive to replicate exactly), but the heart and base — what people actually smell on you all day — read the same.

where are the perfumes made?

every bottle is composed and filled in grasse, france — the historical capital of perfumery and the home of the small artisanal laboratories that have supplied the world's major fragrance houses for generations.

how much should i expect to pay?

2ml decants start at €9. full 50ml bottles start at €29. discovery sets (pick three 2mls) save 30% on the per-decant price. compared to the niche and designer originals we're inspired by, that's roughly 10% of the brand-store price for the same juice profile.

do you ship outside the eu?

how long does delivery take?

free over €50, flat €4.90 below. france/benelux/germany/austria/italy: 2–4 working days. iberia/ireland/denmark/poland/czech republic/hungary: 3–5 working days. nordics/baltics/romania/bulgaria/greece/croatia/slovakia/slovenia/cyprus/malta: 4–7 working days. orders placed before 14:00 cet on a working day ship the same day.

can i return an opened bottle?

yes. 30 days from delivery, opened or unopened, full refund. sampling is the entire point of how we sell — refusing returns on opened decants would undermine the model. full details on the returns page.

are the perfumes safe for sensitive skin?

we use ifra-compliant ingredients only — the international fragrance association standards exclude all the major skin-irritant compounds that earlier-generation perfumery used. patch test on the inside of your wrist before wearing the first time if you have a known fragrance sensitivity.

are they vegan and cruelty-free?

yes. no animal-derived ingredients (no real musk, no civet, no ambergris — all replaced by synthetic equivalents that smell identical) and no testing on animals at any point in the supply chain.

how should i store a bottle?

somewhere dark, cool, and stable. away from direct sunlight, away from radiators, away from steamy bathrooms. a closed wardrobe drawer is ideal. stored well, a mr. dupe bottle lasts 3+ years without losing top notes.

how long does a 50ml bottle last in real use?

depends on how heavily you spray. 4 sprays a day from a 50ml bottle is roughly 6 months of daily wear. lighter users (2 sprays, alternating days) easily stretch a bottle past a year.

i bought a perfume from an old fragrance house and the bottle was a different smell from the dupe. why?

reformulations. major houses change formulas over the years — sometimes for regulatory reasons (ifra updates), sometimes for cost reasons, sometimes for trend reasons. our impressions target what's commonly considered the canonical version of each original, not whatever batch is on shelves this season.

is there a physical store?

not yet. mr. dupe is online-only across the eu. we run pop-ups occasionally — newsletter subscribers hear first.
