the problem we noticed
a 50ml bottle of niche perfume in europe costs anywhere from €220 to €480. ingredient cost is a fraction of that — usually under 5%. the rest is brand machinery: campaigns, flagship stores, packaging unboxing rituals, the fragrance counter staff at every department store in europe.
we don't mind any of that. those houses earned the right to charge what they charge — they wrote the books. but we kept hearing the same thing from friends: i love this perfume, but i can't justify €280 on something i might wear twice a month.
the answer we built
we work with the same artisanal perfumers in grasse — the small family-run laboratories that have been blending for the world's most-loved fragrance houses for generations. we commission them to build impressions: compositions that read the same in the air, built from the same kinds of accords, hitting the same emotional register as the originals.
we don't copy. we don't counterfeit. we don't use any of the original houses' trademarks on our bottles. mr. dupe is the trade name we publish under, and every fragrance we sell is our own composition, inspired by — and openly comparing itself to — a recognisable original.

how we source
every fragrance ships from our atelier in grasse, the perfume capital of france and the home of the centuries-old industry that supplies the world's major houses. the perfumers we work with also work for the originals — they know the briefs, the formulas, the molecular architecture of the compositions we're honouring.
we age every formula at least 4 weeks in glass before bottling. the long-chain musks and base notes need time to settle and bloom; a fragrance pulled fresh from the macerator smells thin and synthetic. ours don't.
we use IFRA-compliant ingredients only — the international fragrance association standards that keep skin-irritant compounds out of modern perfumery. no untested aroma chemicals, no shortcuts, no surprises.
what we won't do
- we won't counterfeit. no original house's name or trademark appears on a mr. dupe bottle, ever. we say what we're inspired by because honesty is the whole point.
- we won't fake reviews. every review on a product page comes from a real customer with a real order id. if a perfume is rated 4.2, that's because 4.2 is what real customers gave it.
- we won't inflate suggested retail. the strikethrough prices you see next to our products are the real recommended retail prices of the original niche and designer perfumes — sourced from the houses' own websites and major retailers. we'll always tell you the exact original and where to verify the original price yourself.
- we won't pretend we're a luxury brand. we're a small studio making well-priced perfume. that's the entire pitch.
